There’s rust on these walls

TW: Mention of blood, abusive relationship

Sharmistha Das

There's rust on these walls

The sour smell of your dirty wardrobe.

There's blood on those lips

The heart pumping, beating,

Like the quake after dawn.

You were asleep;

Gone..

But the smell?

It still oozes

All over the house.

I remember the broken plates,

The veiled threats,

The lips full of "filthy bastard!"

The heart pumping, thudding, thumping,

Bursting at the seams

Alive-

"Just die b*tch!"

The blood still stains these walls...
